Introducing Online Classes for individuals
I’ve been teaching Online classes since well before Craftsy was a “thing”. In 2009, I created and produced several LIVE online classes that were paced weekly with chats for the students. My first class registered 59 students from around the world. I still teach that class (the Quilters Palette) as an Online-Only class today. The pandemic impressed the need for online classes – a band wagon that I jumped right on. So I can teach for you in the comfort of your own home. I offer LIVE classes in partnership with John C. Campbell Folk School using the LessonFace platform, which began in 2020 and has been very successful. A new schedule of classes will be available soon. See the schedule below, with all of the information and links for registration, including photos of the projects.
- If you know you’ll be missing one or more live sessions of a class you’d like to take, don’t worry. Each session is recorded and made available the following day. Some of the longer class schedules (like Quiltmaking 101 classes) have a week off in between to be used as make-up classes.
In addition, here is a short video that will acquaint you with the classes that I teach. If you have any questions about these, please let me know..
I also teach private 1-hour classes through Lessonface. If there’s something you want to learn and would like to have a private lesson, choosing to have a 1:1 lesson is a great opportunity. To see all of the information and my background, click on the Lessonface link above and it will take you straight to my page. I can teach you anything you want to learn.

QUILTMAKING 101
Join me for ten weeks of excellent LIVE instruction.
Ten class sessions, beginning February 6th, 2025 (Thursday), 6:30 pm – 9 pm, Central. Dates are 2/6, 2/23, 2/20. 2/27, 3/13/ 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, & 4/24. All class sessions are recorded and available to review after class, so you won’t miss thing!
Create a sampler quilt, one technique at a time, that will help you learn to make a quilt from A to Z. Whether you’re a beginner, or a seasoned quilt maker, this class will help you to learn, and refresh – or hone – your skills. I’ll bet that you’ve never taken a class quite like this one.
Quiltmaking 101 is a ten-week class that will take you on a quilt journey. This sampler of quilt techniques includes:
- Strip-piecing
- half square triangles
- hand applique (don’t be afraid of this – it’s super easy, and not needle turn!)
- hand piecing
- y-seam construction
- drafting
- templates
- layouts
- finishing are only a part of it.
This is an in-depth class for every level of quilter. You just need to know your way around your sewing machine.
We begin with one block and 6 fat quarters and build as you go to learn a treasury of quilting techniques and tricks.
The first night of class, I will go over:
- the Anatomy of a quilt, what are the parts and elements.
- How to choose the fabrics for your quilt, and I will advise you on your choices.
- All of the notions we will use for this class so you know what they are and where to find them for the best price.
- How to use your rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat — and how to change the blade on your rotary cutter.
You’ll add notions along the way that are essential tools for your quilt kit.
The size of the quilt depends on how big you want to make it. Just blocks with sashing and no border: 58″ x 58″. Blocks with sashing and border: 74″ x 74″. Add additional block and make it a bed-size quilt, with sashing and borders: 74″ x 84″. Or you can make it a Queen or a King, just by adding more blocks of your choice, and borders.
You need to have a copy of this book, that we’ll use as a text book:
Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. It must be the Second Edition of the book and look exactly like the picture above, with the gold triangle in the upper right hand corner. The book is out of print, and I will have some copies available for purchase in my website store once Registration opens. You can also find it on Amazon, ThriftBooks, and second hand book stores. Please order it as soon as you register for class so you can receive it in time for the first night of class.
Some additional information about Annie’s Online classes:
All instruction is via Zoom. I use multiple cameras, so you can see everything in detail that you need to know. I’m a very hands-on teacher, even virtually. The instruction is interactive, so you ask questions when they occur to you — not at the end of a teaching segment. I’ll send the Zoom link to you three days before the class starts. In the case of multiple day/session classes, the Zoom link will remain the same.
If you need assistance during class, I will spotlight you and help you through it. I prefer to use the Spotlight so I can see what you need help with, and it’s also good for the other students can observe and learn.
I offer kits of specific things that are either hard to find, or can be expensive if you have to buy a whole package, in an effort to help you keep your costs down. You will have the option of purchasing the Kit, or not. If there is a pattern included in the Kit, there will be an option to get just the pattern — but you do need to purchase the pattern for the class. All Kit costs include shipping, but do not include tax, if applicable.
